The basic dance element space is made up of many sub-elements, which we must consider whenever we create, watch, or evaluate a dance.  The first of thes sub-elements is level.  The dancer's body has a certain relationship to the space from the floor to the top of the visible performance space (e.g. the stage).  Levels range from grounded and rooted (crawling, sitting, kneeling, crouching - anything below a slight knee bend; through the middle range (from slightly bent knees to rising up onto tip-toes); to high livel which includes jumps and leaps and the high overhead lifts.

Procedure:
After a lecture/demonstration during which the dance element space and its sub-element level are defined and discussed, the students engage in the following activities

#1:  Form a large circle in the center of the room with all students......

3)  Leap into Life
This interactive Lecture-Demonstation illustrates dance's basic components:  space, time, and energy.  Each of the components is explained and explored through a number of simple fun activities.  These actvities are then further demonstrated through video/performance examples especially selected to illustrate core curriculum concepts.  This is an enjoyable, educational and enriching program tailor-made for students and all those who wish to know more
